we are FUNDRAISING to distribute CARE KITS TO UNSHELTERED SURVIVORS OF POVERTY
We're asking for 100 donors to donate $15.
Due to the tremendous success of our last Care Kit fundraiser and the urgent need that continues to exist, RebelTown Rollers is once again hosting a fundraiser to provide Care Kits to those in LA County who are currently experiencing poverty and lack of shelter.
Thanks to our amazing donors from the last fundraiser, we were able to create and distribute 100 Care Kits that were much appreciated by people in need in our surrounding communities. Items such as tents and tarps were high in demand, so this time around we aim to purchase more of those items in addition to things like backpacks so we'll be able to help out with the things that people need most.
Our goal of $1500 allows us to distribute 100+ Food Kits, 100+ Hygiene Kits, 25+ Period Kits, and other items like tarps, tents, backpacks, and flashlights.
For those who identify as Queer or Trans BIPOC, existing at the intersection of oppression takes its toll. Even seeking resources can be a traumatic experience. With this fundraiser, we will be able to distribute Care Kits directly to those who are unsheltered in our own neighborhoods in Lakewood and Long Beach, CA.
Care Kit contents:
As a roller derby team and community organization, we know that our platform can make an impact and we’ve taken direct action to affect change in our local communities and in our country for the Black Lives Matter Movement and for the LGBTQIA2S+ Community. We're inviting you to join in our efforts.
All it takes is $15. Please consider donating to this fundraiser and/or sharing it with your community.

- Due to systemic racism, Black, Indigenous and People of Color experience disproportionate levels of homelessness. Only 8% of LA County citizens are Black, yet Black people make up 39% of the county's homeless population.
- The LGBTQIA2S+ population, particularly youth, also face staggering numbers of homelessness. Of youth under the age of 24 who are experiencing homelessness, 40% identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or questioning.
- One-third of transgender people are turned away from sex-segregated shelters due to gender-based discrimination. Additionally, 42% of those admitted are housed in unsuitable spaces for their gender identity, making them targets of violence.
